SUMMARY:Data Mining in Bioinformatics\: Techniques\, Methods and Challenges
DESCRIPTION:<p>
In this talk\, I will discuss some of the latest data mining techniques and methods and their applications in bioinformatics study\, focusing on bioinformatics data integration\, biomedical literature mining\, and graph-based data mining in biological networks. In bioinformatics data integration\, I will present a semantic-based approach for multi source bioinformatics data integration.

SUMMARY:Translational Bioinformatics and Quantitative Biology in Cancer Research\: From Understanding Genetic and Molecular Signatures of Human Disease to Personalized and Pathway-Centric Medicine
DESCRIPTION:<p>
The greatest challenge of the postgenomic era is to understand the function of genes and gene products in multiple organisms &mdash\;including humans&mdash\;both from fundamental and applied perspectives. This will ultimately enable the design of new diagnostic tools and pharmacological agents and facilitate efficacious treatment of many pathological processes.

SUMMARY:Cognitive and Secure Tele-Healthcare Networking and Signal Processing
DESCRIPTION:<p>
This talk focuses on how to establish an intelligent\, secure tele-healthcare system called <strong>c-THIRA</strong> (<u>C</u>ognitive <u>T</u>ele-<u>H</u>ealthcare with D<u>i</u>stilled Sampling\, <u>R</u>easoning and <u>A</u>ctuation) that can handle high-dimensional medical signals and complex disease states in large-scale medical decision sub-spaces. Especially we propose a new concept called <em>distilled computing (DC)</em>\, which has a strategy analogous to water distillation\, which uses a refined procedure to improve water purification.
