Biological motifs are defined as recurring patterns that appear more than usual. Sequence motifs, structural motifs, and network motifs are examples of biological motifs. A sequence motif is a consensus substring given a number of sequences, and a structural motif is a repeated structure formed by the spatial assembly of amino acids. Protein sequence motifs and structural motifs are related to each other in terms of biological significance.
