Vision

The CAP Research Group, headed by Professor Raheem Beyah, seeks to develop algorithms to enable a more secure network infrastructure, with computer systems that are more accountable and less vulnerable to attacks and abuse.

Our research is comprised of two complementary approaches: (1) designing and deploying real-world systems, tools, and algorithms that are immediately applicable to today’s networks and (2) developing fundamental network primitives and algorithms that could transform network security and management. Developing and deploying real-world solutions to network security problems allows application to current problems and provides a foundation for understanding long-range challenges as current threats evolve. Our current research applies this approach to four areas: (1) intrusion detection using information leakage; (2) network steganography; (3) security in wireless networks; and (4) network performance.
