I am a professor in the Department of Computer Science at Georgia State University. I served as chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science from June 1998 through June 1999. I was the first chair of the Department of Computer Science, serving from the inception of the department on July 1, 1999, to 2005. I am a member of the Hypermedia and Visualization Laboratory and of the Center for Neural Communication and Computation at GSU.

My professional service includes serving as an associate editor of the International Journal in Computer Simulation (1990-1993), serving on the editorial board of the International Journal in Computer Simulation (1993-1997), and presenting (with Vijay K. Vaishnavi) the invited lecture “Ensuring Software Safety and Reliability with Strategies for Incorporating Formal Specifications” on March 22, 1995, as part of the course "Safety and Reliability in Medical Device Software" for the Food and Drug Administration Center For Devices and Radiological Health Staff College. I am currently a member of the Executive Committee of GSU's NIH P20 Planning Grant (2003-present) and a member of GSU's Biomedical Computational Center (2003-present).

My university service includes serving as an elected senator from the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science from June 1998 through June 1999. I served as an elected senator from the Department of Computer Science from July 1999 to 2005. I chaired the Senate Information Systems and Technology Committee from April 2002 to April 2005, which included chairing the Student Technology Fee Subcommittee for the last three years.
