First International Workshop on

Mobile Ad-hoc and Ubiquitous Sensor Networks

(MASN 2005)

To be held in conjunction with

November 2-5, 2005

Nanjing University, P.R. China

Scope:

The concept of wireless ad hoc networks comes from the early military research effort called Mobile Packet Radio Networking in the 1970’s and 1980’s. It has many advantages over wired networking, such as rapid deployment without complicated configuration. Such networks can also be widely used in those environments where wired networks are not applicable or not easily set up, for example, in the scenarios of military or emergent (fire/safety/rescue) fields.

As the technology continues to evolve, sensor networks are quickly emerging as an active research area with many applications. These are wireless ad hoc networks in which the sensors typically have very limited resources. This limitation brings many challenges to researchers within this community.

The purpose of this workshop is to provide current information on research and development activities in the field of wireless ad hoc and sensor networks. The workshop will provide a forum for researchers to exchange ideas, discuss solutions, and identify future directions for this field.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

  • Mobility management
  • Resource management
  • Data management
  • Power management and energy efficient design
  • Security and fault tolerance issues
  • Quality of service (QoS) issues
  • Broadcasting/multicasting/routing strategies
  • Applications for ad hoc and sensor networks
  • Performance evaluation
  • Network configuration
  • Distributed coordination algorithms (synchronization, scheduling, location, topology control, deployment, addressing, etc.)

Submission Guidelines:

Authors are invited to submit manuscripts reporting original unpublished research and recent developments in the topics related to the MASN workshop. The length of the papers should be a maximum of 10 double-column single-spaced pages including figures and references on 8.5 by 11 inch paper using at least 10 point font (based upon IEEE Proceedings Style). Please remember that the final versions will be restricted to 8 pages. Prospective authors should electronically submit their paper in PDF format to anu@cs.gsu.edu.

Accepted papers will be published in Springer's Lecture Notes in Computer Science.
