Retirement Party for Carolyn Eschenbach
The following photos were taken on May 11, 2001, at the Steak and Ale
on International Boulevard. The occasion was the retirement of Carolyn
Eschenbach from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
After everyone had finished eating, Frank Hall began to speak about
Carolyn's many years in the department, as
Carolyn and one of her sons listened.
Frank got a chance to say only a few words before one of the restaurant
staff interrupted, saying, "I don't want to alarm anybody, but you've got
to evacuate the building immediately." We hustled out onto the street
across from the restaurant and were told that someone
had phoned in a bomb threat. Frank continued his
presentation on the sidewalk as police arrived to search the building.
