Career goals and Aspirations
I have had a lot of great teachers who influenced me over the years, but one of them still stands in my memory. Up until the seventh grade, I didn't like math at all and did not want nothing to do with it. That wasn't until I meet my seventh grade math teacher named Ms. Billups, she taught Pre-Algebra and was one of the best math teachers I ever had. Because of her encouragement for me to learn math, I appreciated it so much. I didn't realize math could be so much fun!! Hence, my passion for math still continues and I was inspired to become a math teacher. I have pursued teaching opportunities while I was still in high school such as being a student teacher for Junior Achievement Organization and taught 3rd grade students at Grove Park Elementary School. That following year, I became a student teaching intern at M. Agnes Jones Elementary School and taught fifth grade math. Those experiences ignited my passion to pursue a teaching career. During my sophomore year at Georgia State University, an acquaintance told me about a field named Actuarial Science. I wanted to know more about the subject so I did some research and became interested in it. Actuarial Science is basically solving business problems by using math including using the knowledge of accounting, finance, and risk management to name a few. Currently I am a math major at Georgia State University and considering to pursue Actuarial Science as a concentration.
Interests:
My interests are in Actuarial Science and Human Anatomy. I constantly do research on medical conditions both common and rare. There is one rare medical condition that I have found utterly bizarre but interesting, it is called Diphallia, best known as penile duplication (PD), diphallic terata, and diphallasparatus. "The term Diphallia means a male infant born with two penises." (www.wikipedia.org)
Religious beliefs:
I am a Christian and believe in God. My faith is very important to me, and my goal is to build a close relationship with the Lord. I do believe that with God anything is possible and without him I have nothing.
Music:
I love all kinds of music such as pop, rap, R&B, gospel, and little bit of techno. My favorite artist is Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony. "Bone thugs is an American gangsta rap group from Cleveland, Ohio, known for their fast rapping style and harmonizing vocals. The group is the biggest selling rap group of all time with 35 million albums worldwide" (www.wikipedia.org). I have been a fan of Bone Thugs since 1995.
