Dear TCPP member,

Welcome to the first newsletter this Fall!  I am honored to have received your enthusiastic support for my next term.  We need dedicated volunteers and new resources as we expand our current work and pursue new initiatives for the parallel processing community worldwide.  Let me know (sprasad
at gsu.edu) if you are able to volunteer or support TCPP awards and education/research activities in your part of the world either with sponsorship or with in-kind resources for the community (publications, hardware, software, high-end computer access, etc).

One key new initiative which has received wide support from the community is Curriculum Standards for Parallel and Distributed Computing.  Given rapid churn in technology and mass availability of multi-cores and GPGPU's, there is an urgent need for providing periodic curricular guidance for introductory and other courses to educators and their students.  Other stake holders are authors, industry, researchers, sister organizations, and, of course, the society at large.

TCPP is organizing an NSF-supported Planning Workshop on Curriculum Standards for Parallel and Distributed Computing to identify the needs, assess current state of practice, and propose roadmap in short and long term.  TCPP invites all stake holders for their participation in this process.  To begin with, educators worldwide are requested to provide information on the relevant courses that they teach at http://www.cs.gsu.edu/~tcpp/curriculum (undergraduate/graduate; introductory, advanced, and other related high performance and computational courses).   Contact me with your input or if you want to be involved.

Here are the updates on the TCPP related conferences followed by CFPs, etc. Submit yours to tcpp-announce@cc.gatech.edu.

Regards,

Sushil K. Prasad
TCPP Chair
