Dear TCPP member,

Welcome to the first TCPP newsletter for this fall! First, I want to highlight the upcoming manuscript submission deadline of TCPP’s flagship conference, IPDPS 2009 (3 October 2008). Also, I want to alert you on two upcoming TCPP-sponsored conferences in October, namely, PACT-08 in Toronto and DS-RT-08 in Vancouver.

Next, I am pleased to announce the 2009 TCPP PhD forum to be held at IPDPS-09 in Rome. As many of you know, we had an enthusiastic response for the inaugural PhD forum this year with 36 posters presented, 24 travel awards and two best poster awards. Building on this for the next year, an excellent program committee, chaired by Prof. Yves Robert of ENS Lyon, is seeking four-page submissions from current PhD students by 15 December 2008. The scope of the forum is parallel and distributed processing in a broader sense. All topics of several TCPP-related conferences are welcome (listed at the TCPP website). Successful students will also have an opportunity to publish one-page summary in the IPDPS-09 proceedings. The CFP is attached. Details, including logistics, are posted at ipdps.org.

To update new readers, this newsletter brings in announcements on student and other awards, conferences, and post-doc and other open positions, and any topical articles submitted by members. Submit yours to tcpp-announce@cc.gatech.edu. Visit the TCPP website for membership and further information. Here are the updates on the TCPP related conferences followed by CFPs, etc.

Regards,

Sushil K. Prasad

TCPP Chair
