PostDoc in Networking and Distributed Computing
Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University at Buffalo (SUNY) in conjunction with NEC Labs of America

In anticipation for an immediate funding, we are looking for a full-time postdoc to work on the following three main topics with emphasis on protocols, algorithms and software systems for
  1. resources allocation/provisioning (computing, networking/communications resources) ,
  2. survivable, fault tolerant distributed system design and dimensioning and
  3. performance optimization, analysis and simulation.
in the area of grid computing environments, application overlay networks, virtual topology design over optical networks, virtualizable and/or programmable networks (e.g., GENI), and parallel and distributed systems.

A successful candidate must have a PhD degree in CS/EE or a related discipline by the time of the appointment, and must have a good communication skills (oral and written). He/she must be able to work independently, with our industrial partners (e.g., NEC Labs) and with other graduate students. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extending it for up to 3 years, depending on the candidate's performance and the availability of funds. Stipends are commensurate with qualifications. This position is funded by NEC Labs of America. Eligible candidates may be hired by NEC Labs America.
