Sarker Wins Two Awards at Scientific Computing Day
Ph.D. student Krishanu Sarker received two awards at Georgia State’s Scientific Computing Day (SCD) conference, held on October 26, 2018, in Centennial Hall. His poster “Robust Human Activity Recognition from RGB Video Stream with Limited Training Data” was recognized as the best poster of the symposium as well as the best Advanced Analytics poster. Twenty-eight posters were presented at the conference by authors in multiple disciplines across the university. Associate professors Saeid Belkasim and Jonathan Shihao Ji are Mr. Sarker’s advisors.
In addition to the poster competition, SCD featured panel discussions and talks by invited speakers, including a keynote presentation from computer science professor Sushil Prasad. SCD has been held annually at Georgia State since 2015, with the goal of promoting collaboration within GSU’s computational science research community. The conference is sponsored by Dell EMC.
