Icer Wins Best Student Poster Award
Computer science Ph.D. student Pelin Icer was one of five students to win a Best Student Poster award at the 7th Workshop on Biostatistics and Bioinformatics. Her poster topic was “Quantitative Difference Between Intra-Host HCV Populations from Persons with Recently Established and Persistent Infections.” Her doctoral advisor is assistant professor Pavel Skums, and she is supported by a fellowship from Georgia State’s Molecular Basis of Disease Area of Focus.
The Workshop on Biostatistics and Bioinformatics is organized annually by professor Yichuan Zhao of Georgia State’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics. This year’s sessions were held in the 25 Park Place building on May 10–12.
