The National Institutes of Health has awarded Dr. Jing Sui a four-year grant valued at $400,000 per year, for a total of $1.6 million. The grant is intended for research on translational biomarkers in brain disorders.

Psychiatric imaging often struggles with the identification of many psychiatric disorders, such as major depression disorder, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Dr. Sui will use deep learning, supervised learning, and functional dynamics to gain information about and more easily identify the precise biomarkers of these psychiatric disorders. Her research may help to discover neuroimaging biomarkers that have been missed by existing approaches, resulting in earlier and more effective diagnoses and interventions.

Dr. Sui is a research associate professor in the Department of Computer Science. She specializes in brain imaging data analysis, data mining, and precision medicine.
