Alumni Profile: Serial Entrepreneur Dinesh Agarwal
Whether he was playing squash at the Rec Center or mentoring students as a graduate assistant, Dinesh Agarwal’s time at Georgia State was only the beginning for the young entrepreneur. Dinesh graduated from Georgia State’s computer science Ph.D. program in 2013, working under the direction of Dr. Sushil Prasad (currently the chair of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Texas at San Antonio). Promptly after graduation, he started the first of several companies, one of which he successfully sold in 2020.
Dinesh’s latest project is RecurPost, a social media marketing tool that allows users to create, schedule, and track content all in one convenient spot. As founder and CEO of the company, he is responsible for ensuring the satisfaction of every stakeholder in the business, including employees and users. However, 2020 has not been without its challenges, and Dinesh notes that the ongoing pandemic has presented a series of learning opportunities for himself and his team of 35. As they worked to adapt to a work-from-home format, he says the experience has “helped identify some of my weaknesses and enabled me to address them.” He cites having become a better communicator and manager thanks to the new format.
Amid the gloom of the current state of the world, Dinesh has found a silver lining: his wife and three-year-old daughter. “The best part of the pandemic,” he says, “is that I am able to spend more time with them.”
